Sigma Alpha Epsilon strives to make a difference in the local community of Big Rapids. We are 2 time Adopt-a-Block champions, as well as volunteering at Big Rapid's Fall Festival since its inception on 2008. Here is a list of our recent deeds.
Fall Fest: For the last two years Sigma Alpha Epsilon has teamed up with Alpha Xi Delta to host Halloween/ Fall themed games for Big Rapids Youth. These games include: bean bag toss, face painting, and the popular fishing game where children fish a line over a blanket and get to catch their own prize of candy or toys.
Adopt-a-Block: A spring event where teams are formed and assigned a block in Big Rapids to clean up, with the teams that collected the most trash receiving an award. Sigma Alpha Epsilon is a 2 time award winning team going well above the call of duty and collecting 6 bags of trash in less than two hours in 2009 and hopes to continue their success!
St. Michael's Fish Fry: We aided St. Michael's church by serving it's guests and washing dishes, there was a packed gymnasium of people and over 400 people were served. We are proud to have helped during such economic hardships and look forward to working with St. Michael's again in the future!
Take Back the Night: in 2008 our entire chapter marched around campus to raise awareness of domestic violence, and sexual assault, and we are proud to have been a part of such an inspiring and moving display of strength and courage of those who spoke after the march.
Zeta Tau Alpha 5K Run for Breast Cancer Awareness: We had many brothers run and donate money to support finding a cure for breast cancer as well as raising awareness.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon is also proud to be National Greek Partners with Children's Miracle Network
